You do require to be a more advanced player for this weekend with a reasonable knowledge of chord and scale structure as related to the guitar. You should be able to play a few chord progressions through and know a couple of standards e.g. Autumn Leaves, Misty or something like that. We will look at improvisation, holding the chord progression in your head and chord and scale substitution. With
our help you can analyze your playing technique and find out what you need to be doing to improve it. We work to the level of the people attending the weekend.
If you
are interested in a Jazz weekend then please get in
touch and if I get enough interest I can do a course for
5 or less players in the studio at a time of year to
suit.
We do a
'Gypsy Jazz' weekend with Ian Cruickshank which
looks at the playing of Django Reinhardt
and jazz improvisations in his style. This would appeal
to lovers of the big band style like Lois Armstrong as
well.
